About This Site

Genmiskiy Fanno Dive Site

Genmiskiy Fanno sits at Fuvahmulah's northern tip where the reef drops steeply from 10m into the abyss. This steep wall dive is covered in soft corals and hosts an active macro life ecosystem, while the blue water beyond delivers schooling fish and occasional pelagic surprises.

The wall structure here is dramatic — a near-vertical face that plunges well beyond recreational limits. Soft corals, sponges, and small gorgonian fans cling to the wall, creating a colourful backdrop against the deep blue. Schooling fish spiral in the current along the wall face, and macro critters hide in every crevice.

The northern tip position catches current from multiple directions depending on season, which means marine life composition varies more here than at sites with consistent exposure. Some days the wall is alive with barracuda and trevally; other days it's a quieter reef dive with macro rewards.

Best Conditions

Year-round access from the north coast. Variable conditions — best on calm days for wall exploration. Current days favour pelagic sightings.

Diver Tips

How to Dive Genmiskiy Fanno

Fuvahmulah's most dramatic wall dive. The sheer drop from 10m into the abyss, covered in soft coral and teeming with schooling fish, is visually stunning. Good for divers who enjoy wall diving and macro exploration alongside the pelagic potential.

Use the wall as your depth reference — it's easy to drift deeper than planned on a vertical face
The best soft coral is at 15–25m. Don't rush to the deep — the mid-wall zone is the richest
Check crevices and ledges for macro life — nudibranchs, flatworms, and shrimp hide throughout
If current is running, drift along the wall rather than fighting it. Your boat will follow your SMB
