We work closely with four — not because the others are bad, but because a premium dive week lives or dies on details we can only guarantee with partners we know personally: early breakfasts that actually happen before dawn dives, gear-friendly rooms and rinse space, drivers who know the harbor timing, and front desks that call us first when anything wobbles. Small groups and personal care are the whole point of diving with us — the accommodation has to hold that same standard on land.

The four, compared

AIG Grand — the sundowner. On the island's north side, away from the harbour bustle, and it plays its best card at golden hour: a rooftop infinity pool looking straight into the sunset, a multi-cuisine restaurant served downstairs or up on the roof, and junior suites and family rooms with real space. A minute from the beach, gym and spa on site — the pick for couples and anyone who wants upscale calm without the buzz. Ocean Pearl — the premium hotel. The most hotel-like stay in our family: 26 rooms with ocean-view balconies, a rooftop infinity pool for the post-dive float, and Raskuri, the in-house restaurant, serving indoors or on the roof — with breakfast from 6 AM, which matters more than any amenity list when the dawn boat calls. It's also the only partner stay with a proper conference room and an eight-guest top-floor suite, which makes it our pick for photo workshops, families and groups that want to stay under one roof. And it carries the most premium package we sell: Liquid Ten Solo, $3,635 all-in.

Equator Retreat — the base camp. Twelve rooms with private en-suite bathrooms, a shared lounge where you can rest, cook a meal or catch up on laundry, and continental breakfast included — all within walking distance of our dive center. The most affordable of our partner stays, built for divers who'd rather put their budget towards tanks.

Hikers Villa — local recovery, feet in the sand. The one stay with its feet actually in the sand: a private beach area, sea-view suites, and a King Suite with a spa bath and an open-air bath. There's a small wellness centre with occasional yoga, karaoke nights, a (non-alcoholic) bar, and a kitchen that wanders from local Maldivian to Thai, Middle Eastern and high tea. Tiny, beachfront and staff-obsessed — guests rate the team 9.5 — it's the recovery option for divers who want the ocean outside the door and a soak after three tanks.
