Why learn HERE, specifically
Most Maldives learn-to-dive content points you at resort house reefs — sheltered, lovely, and a bit like learning to drive in an empty parking lot. Fuvahmulah is different by nature:
Real ocean, real skills. You'll train in the conditions divers actually meet out in the world — honest blue water over a living reef. Divers certified here go home comfortable, not just certified. (We supervise accordingly: small groups, patient pacing, safety as the first pillar of everything we do.)
A graduation gift no resort can match. The Tiger Harbour dive sits at just 6–8 meters — within Open Water limits and technically one of the easiest dives on the island. Learn to dive Monday-to-Thursday; meet a tiger shark before you fly home. Very few certification stories on Earth compete with that.

The path, step by step
Try Scuba — $150. Never breathed underwater? Start with one gentle, unhurried session, shallow and fully guided. No commitment, minimum age 8. Most people surface grinning and sign up for the real thing.
Basic Diver — $435. A middle step: real skills, a taste of certification, credit toward the full course.
SSI Open Water Diver — $655. The complete, globally recognized certification: self-paced digital academics (start at home before you fly — smart move), confined-water skill sessions, an ocean snorkeling session, and 4 open water training dives to 18 meters. Minimum age 10. Three to four relaxed days, or spread across a week between beach time.
Then the fun begins. Certified guests typically add reef dives ($70–85) and the tiger dive ($100) to the same trip — which is the whole point of doing it here.
All courses are SSI — one of the world's two largest training agencies, recognized everywhere PADI is. Same skills, same global acceptance, and (in our slightly biased, experience-based opinion) better digital learning materials. If you hold cards from any other agency, everything cross-credits cleanly. (Every course we teach, with prices.)
What to sort before you fly
Health: a standard medical self-declaration (certain conditions need a doctor's sign-off — ask us early). Swimming: comfortable, not Olympian — you'll do a relaxed water-fitness check. Paperwork and the general Maldives diving requirements — the 30m recreational limit, insurance recommendations — are all covered in that guide. Timing: any month works (here's what each season looks like); allow 5+ nights so the course never feels rushed and a celebration tiger dive fits at the end.
Bring a partner who already dives? Perfect — they dive the full schedule while you train; you reunite for afternoon reef dives once you're certified. We choreograph this constantly.

Will I really be able to dive with tiger sharks afterwards? The tiger dive is shallow and highly structured — newly certified divers with calm control regularly join it, after our honest in-water assessment. It's the best graduation ceremony in diving.
